About the Contents in the Packages

An FMEDA provides the base FIT rate of the device. It also provides the means to determine the residual FIT rate when the relevant diagnostic mechanisms are selected in the FMEDA by the system integrator.

A safety manual describes, in detail, how to use the device from both a hardware and software perspective in a safety-critical application that must conform to the ISO 26262 safety standard.

A software diagnostic library implements a collection of the diagnostic mechanisms described in the safety manual. The system integrator must, if required, implement the diagnostic mechanisms not implemented by the library. Refer to the software diagnostics library release notes for more information about the diagnostic mechanisms implemented in the library.
