ECC public keys are not required as part of the LoRaWAN security specification. These
keys can however be used for additional security use cases. Public keys are always
associated with ECC private keys. Every ECC private key will have its own unique public
key. For the
ATECC608A-TNGLoRaWAN, three possible public
keys can be used or generated:
- Slot 1 contains a primary ECC
private key that can be used for ECDSA signs. The public key for this slot can
always be generated and used for a verify operation.
- Slot 8 contains an ECC public key
as part of the X.509 Certificate information. Certificates are not used as part
of the LoRa authentication requirements.
