8.6 TDES Algorithm

Triple Data Encryption Algorithm (TDES) is a symmetric key block cipher proposed in 1981, which applies the DES cipher algorithm three times to each data block. DES key size is 56 bit and 8 bits of error-detection. Key size for TDES is (56+8) · 3 = 64 · 3 = 192 bits (24 bytes). Initialization vector is 8 bytes.
