37.4.1.3 Client Operation in 7-Bit Addressing Modes
The upper seven bits of an address byte are used to determine a client’s address, while
the LSb of the address byte is reserved as the Read/not Write
(R/W) bit. When R/W is set
(R/W =
1
), the host device intends to read
data from the client. When R/W is clear
(R/W = 0
), the host device intends to
write data to the client. When an address match occurs, the R/W
bit is copied to the Read Information (R) bit, and the 7-bit address is copied to I2CxADB0.
