5.4.3 Set Directive

The .set symbol, expression directive sets the value of symbol to expression. You may set the same symbol any number of times in assembly. If you set a global symbol, the value stored in the object file is the last value equated to it. This directive is equivalent to the .equ directive (see Equ Directive).
