2.5 Write-Protect (WP)

When the write-protect (WP) input is connected to GND, normal write operations are enabled. When the WP pin is connected directly to VCC, all write operations to the protected memory area are disabled.

If the WP pin is left floating, it is internally pulled down to GND. However, because capacitive coupling may occur in customer applications, Microchip recommends connecting the WP pin to a defined logic level at all times. When a pull-up resistor is used, a value of 10 kΩ or less is recommended.
