2.1 Device Address Inputs (A0, A1, A2)
The A0, A1 and A2 pins serve as device address inputs and are typically hardwired directly to either GND or VCC to maintain compatibility with other Two-Wire Serial EEPROM devices. By configuring these pins appropriately, up to eight devices can coexist on a single bus system. A device is selected only when both the hardware address and software address match. If the A0, A1 and A2 pins are left floating, they are internally pulled down to GND. However, capacitive coupling in certain applications may cause unintended behavior. To ensure reliable operation, Microchip recommends connecting all address pins to a defined logic level. When pull-up resistors are used, a resistance value of 10 kΩ or lower is recommended.
