4 Additional Microchip WPC Products
The TA100 is Microchip’s recommended SSS for WPC automotive power transmitters that implement authentication. This device only covers the security aspect of the power transmitter. Microchip also has non-automotive security devices for the industrial and commercial space. The basic WPC engagement flow would, however, remain the same. In addition to SSS, Microchip offers a whole system solution for WPC Qi power transmitter reference designs based on the dsPIC33C device families with and without authentication support.
Microchip’s 15W WPC Wireless Power Solution
Microchip’s 15W automotive power transmitter reference design is based on the dsPIC33CK256MP506 microcontroller. The device meets the AEC-Q100 Grade 1 quality requirements. This reference design provides a complete solution and is implemented with multiple Microchip components, including a CAN FD transceiver, LDOs/switchers, gate drivers, operational amplifiers and temperature sensors. Microchip provides reference software that implements v1.3 of the Qi specification and supports a reliable and efficient Foreign Object Detection (FOD). Authentication is implemented with the TA100, but it can also support the ECC608-TFLXWPC. For more information, see the 15W Multi-Coil Wireless Power Transmitter reference design.
ECC608-TFLXWPC
The ECC608-TFLXWPC is part of the Microchip CryptoAuthentication TrustFLEX offering. The ECC608-TFLXWPC is Microchip’s SSS for non-automotive applications. The device supports WPC Slot 0, has defined support for WPC Slot 1 and can provide secure TLS infrastructure in addition. The ECC608-TFLXWPC device is integrated into the Trust Platform Design Suite use cases.
