4 Considerations for Running MPLAB XC License Server on Cloud Platforms
When running the license server on cloud platforms:
- A Cloud based OS would be considered as a virtual machine; hence an MPLAB XC Virtual Machine License for Pro Network Server Compilers (SW006021-VM) will be required.
- The Cloud environment might have firewalls other than those configured on the OS. Therefore it is necessary to make sure that all firewalls and other security tools on your cloud environment allow RLM to communicate on default ports (5053 and 5054), assuming that they have not been changed, and are on the ISV specific port.
- The ISV specific port is dynamically assigned by RLM. In situations where a firewall rule must be applied to allow communication over ISV port, like on a cloud environment, it would be beneficial to assign a static port for the ISV. To do this, see the port option in ISV Line
Note: In case of XC License Server and xclm client, the ISV is ‘microchip’, without the
quotes.
