This brief shows you how to activate HPA (a High Priority Access support and maintenance service) for an MPLAB® XC compiler after having received a printed copy of the activation details. You will need to follow these steps if you renewed your HPA via a third party vendor and you received the activation details on paper or as a digital file, or you selected the physical media option when purchasing HPA renewal in MicrochipDIRECT.
The following steps assume that your compiler has already been registered with a
mySoftware account.
- Login to the mySoftware account with which the compiler is registered. There are
three ways you can do this.
- Navigate to the www.microchip.com/mysoftware website in your favorite web browser. Use your regular Microchip Direct credentials to log in when prompted.
- If you are already logged in
to your myMicrochip account (www.microchip.com) in your web browser, you can get to
your mySoftware account by selecting from the myMicrochip pull-down menu, as shown in the image
below.
- From the MPLAB X IDE
application, go to the Start Page tab. If this tab is
not visible, open it using the menu item. Click MY MPLAB X IDE, then
use your regular Microchip Direct credentials in the E-mail
Address and Password fields to log
in, as indicated below.
- Click the Apply MPLAB
Software HPA link in the left tool bar. This will open the
following page.
- Enter the 16-digit HPA activation key you received in the renewal document into the HPA Activation key field. Do not enter the activation key for the compiler, shown in the list of registered tools under My Software.
- Select the relevant MPLAB XC compiler from the Select Software to Renew drop-down menu.
- Click the Renew button. This activates the compiler's HPA. You next need to ensure the compiler is using a license file that reflects these changes.
- Click the My Software link shown on the left, under My Development Tools.
- For the compiler you selected in step (4), download the updated license file(s) for the relevant host ID(s).
- Install (run) the license file(s) on the matching host machine(s).
