2.1 Basic Connection Requirements

Getting started with the dsPIC33AK256MPS306 family devices requires attention to a minimal set of device pin connections before proceeding with development. The following pins must always be connected:

  • All VDD and VSS power supply pins must be properly biased with required voltages (see Electrical Characteristics).
  • All AVDD and AVSS analog supply pins must be properly biased regardless of which analog modules or components of the dsPIC33A device are used (see Electrical Characteristics).
  • The MCLR pin must be connected to VDD and VSS based on circuit or application needs.
  • PGCx/PGDx pins must be connected for In-Circuit Serial Programming (ICSP) and debugging purposes (see ICSP Pins).
  • OSCI and OSCO pins must be connected when an external oscillator source is used (see External Oscillator Pins).
