4.2 Board Setup

Follow these steps before using the SAMA7D65 Curiosity Pro:

1. Unpack the board, taking care to avoid electrostatic discharge.
2. Check the default jumper settings (see Default Jumper Settings).
3. Connect to the PC as a power source:
   1. Use a USB Type-A-to-Type-C® cable to connect to connector J1 (USB-A port).
   2. Connect the other end of the cable to a free port on your PC or a standard USB Type-A power source (such as a wall adapter).
4. Connect a USB-UART converter to J63, making sure to also connect the VBUS_FTDI power source.
5. Open a terminal (console 115200, N, 8, 1) on your PC for the USB-UART converter.
6. Reset the board. The startup message “RomBOOT” appears on the console.
