Introduction

The Microchip Zigbee stack, widely known as BitCloud®, is a full-featured, next-generation embedded software stack. The stack provides a software development platform for reliable and scalable wireless applications running on the Microchip Microcontrollers (MCUs) and radio transceivers. It is designed to support a broad ecosystem of user-designed applications, addressing diverse requirements and enabling a full spectrum of software customization.

BitCloud complies fully with the Zigbee® PRO and Zigbee standards for wireless sensing and control. It features an enhanced set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that maintain 100% compliance with the standards while providing extended functionality for the convenience and ease of use for developers.

BitCloud targets system designers, embedded programmers and hardware engineers for evaluating, prototyping and deploying wireless solutions and products on the Microchip hardware platform. The MPLAB® Harmony v3 (H3) framework incorporates the stack and provides the following:
  • Comprehensive documentation
  • A Zigbee stack library that includes multiple components of the stack
  • Source code for system resources/middleware to develop Zigbee 3.0 application device types
  • The MPLAB H3 framework provides a number of peripheral drivers for the PIC32CX-BZ family of MCUs, in addition to its peripheral driver libraries.
