1 Secure SAM-BA Cipher

Secure SAM-BA Cipher is a tool designed to build the pieces of data and software used for enabling the Secure Boot mode on Microchip MPUs: encrypt and sign customer keys, bootstrap and applications. The tool provides confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity using the SHA, AES and RSA cryptographic algorithms.

Secure SAM-BA Cipher tools up to version 3.4 use a licensing mechanism locked on the computer where it is running. Each license is dedicated for a unique host computer.

The new Secure SAM-BA Cipher 3.5 eliminates this licensing mechanism and uses a public key mechanism instead of a hardware lock. This new mechanism improves security and lets the customer protect own secret keys.

Secure SAM-BA Cipher 3.5 adds support for new products. The following table shows the supported product families so far.
