Scope

This application note provides guidelines for operating the audio Class D engine integrated into various Microchip microprocessors (MPUs). It also offers guidance on designing appropriate anti-aliasing filters in DAC use cases or power stages in Class D amplifier use cases.

The document describes an analog simulation environment using MPLAB® Mindi™, Microchip’s free SPICE-like simulation program, with schematics extracted from device data sheets and demo boards analyzed as design examples. Additionally, it provides assistance in calculating external device values to tailor the circuit to specific applications and specifications. Finally, the document includes enhanced schematics that serve as reference designs.
