Introduction

Microchip Technology Inc. has introduced an 8-bit stand-alone I²C communications module. The module includes new hardware features, which allow for more design flexibility and less software overhead. The stand-alone module differs from previous versions of the I²C module, which were included in the Host Synchronous Serial Port (MSSP) module. This migration document details the differences between the stand-alone module and the MSSP version.
