4 Conclusion

The Master Synchronous Serial Port (MSSP) is an integrated serial communications module that contains two sub-modules; the SPI and the I²C. The I²C can be configured to operate as a bus master, a bus slave, or both in Multi-Master mode. This technical brief highlights the use of the MSSP in I²C Slave mode, and includes basic I²C Specification information, terminology, set-up information and a software example.
