Preface
The PIC32CXMTx-DB Demonstration Kits are based on Microchip PIC32CXMTx series SoC, allowing 3000:1 dynamic range and 0.2s accuracy class using standard external components. This is a solution for smart energy applications built around two high performance 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M4F processors, including an internal (PIC32CXMTSH-DB) or external (PIC32CXMTC-DB) energy metering analog front end. The boards are designed to interface with Current Transformers, Rogowski Coils and Shunt Resistors current sensors. It can also interface with communications devices, such as PLC and/or RF modules from Microchip.
The demonstration kits include a metering demo application and the Microchip metrology library for quick out of box evaluation. These firmware packages are regularly updated, thus refer to the Microchip website for the latest versions.
Before reading this guide, it is highly recommended to refer to the “PIC32CXMTx-DB Getting Started User Guide”, which offers an overview of the Microchip Smart Energy Evaluation Suite.
This guide is divided into two sections:
- Metering Demo User Guide - The first section allows the user to understand the Demo Meter application functionality and provides the guidelines to evaluate the metering performance.
- Developer User Guide - The second section describes the metering demo application firmware implementation and the integration with the metrology library.
