The validation network scaled to 200 wireless nodes distributed across an office floor,
providing a representative environment for large node deployment testing.
Area Dimensions: 65 m × 11 m (715 m²)
Legend: DUT - Device Under Test
Node Composition:
BZ2 DUTs (WBZ451 Curiosity boards) - 100
nodes
BZ3 DUTs (WBZ351 Curiosity boards) - 50
nodes
BZ6 DUTs (PIC32-BZ6 Curiosity boards) - 50 nodes
Sectorized Topology
Nodes are arranged into 20 sectors; each sector hosts 10 boards and connects through USB
to a dedicated controller module.
Every controller module uplinks via Ethernet to a single central management workstation,
enabling synchronized firmware loading, logging, and automated test control across the
fleet.
Monitoring and Capture
Four sectors include OTA sniffers positioned alongside the nodes to acquire packet-level
traces for real-time monitoring and post-run analysis.
Sniffer data, combined with controller telemetry, offers visibility into RF integrity,
protocol compliance, and sector-to-sector interference.
The following figure illustrates the basic architecture of a single sector connected to the
central machine.
