The Device Under Test (DUT) for the CTS testing was the PIC18F16Q20. The PIC18F16Q20 is the largest memory and highest pin count member of the PIC18-Q20 family. The PIC18F16Q20 Curiosity Nano Evaluation Kit was used as it provides a convenient and easy-to-use prototyping platform, which includes an on-board programmer/debugger, voltage regulators for primary and secondary voltage domains, a virtual serial port interface, one mechanical user switch, and one yellow user LED. Further details about the PIC18F16Q20 Curiosity Nano Evaluation Kit can be found at: www.microchip.com/en-us/development-tool/EV73T25A.

To run the CTS, a reference I3C controller and waveform analyzer is required to generate the test waveforms and verify the results. For this purpose, the PGY-I3C-EX-PD from Prodigy Technovations was used. The PGY-I3C-EX-PD is a hardware device designed to act as an I3C analyzer, exerciser, and test device. It has the capability to act as an I3C controller and as multiple I3C targets, and it features its own scripting framework, the ability to inject error conditions into the I3C waveforms, and precise control of the timing parameters of the generated I3C waveforms.
