4.1 Parameter Settings
To achieve a comparable link budget for all data packet, choose the following data communication and the ranging packets with settings:
For the communication data packet, the settings are:
- Extended dual frequency mode with
 - 64-byte payload with the following
                    sections
- 4-byte SSID[31–0]
 - 56-byte encrypted payload
                            with
- 1-byte resend counter RC[7–0]
 - 1-byte sequence counter SC[7–0]
 - 50-byte payload data[7–0]
 - 4-byte MAC0 covering the SSID and encrypted payload MAC[31–0]

 - 4-byte FEC code (simple checksum) for the encrypted payload CS[31–0]

 - Packet duration: 0.63 ms

The following settings are for the ranging packets:
- Secure ranging proprietary mode2
                    VRso/PRso with:
- 224 preamble and 160 postamble symbols
 - 127 sync symbols
 - PPS=16 (see Table 3-1)

 - 8-byte payload for the verifier
                    VRso with
- 4-byte SSID with enabled hardware filtering
 - 4-byte MAC0 as RNRv

 - 8-byte payload for the prover
                    PRso with
- 4-byte SSID with enabled hardware filtering
 - 4-byte MAC-1 as RNRp

 - Packet duration: 0.39 ms

For the secure ranging modes, both nodes, VRso and PRso, must know the actual RNRv and RNRp data to allow the synchronous scrambling and descrambling of the payload. For more details, refer to the ATA8352 Impulse-Radio Ultra-Wideband (IR-UWB) Transceiver User’s Guide (DS50003125).
