Introduction

This document introduces AVR® LA microcontrollers (MCUs) and demonstrates how to develop applications using the hardware and software tools supported by Microchip. It helps readers get started with the AVR LA MCU family by covering device selection, toolchain configuration, and providing a step-by-step guide for creating example applications using the Curiosity Nano platform and various software development tools.

For development, this guide outlines the essential tools and resources required to establish a development environment using MPLAB® tools for Visual Studio Code® (VS Code®) or the MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE). It also indicates where to find code examples that use AVR LA MCUs. The AVR32LA32 microcontroller is used as a reference for this demonstration.

Refer to the device-specific data sheet for additional information about the differences between the devices within their respective families.
