DMX-512 is an industry standard protocol that is commonly used to control stage lighting and theatrical effects like fog machines, and is commonly used for color changing LEDs. The latest 8-bit PIC® microcontrollers offer a new UART module that has built-in support for DMX-512 protocol. This module also supports other protocols such as DALI and LIN.
