2 Topology Selection Process
These metrics were considered at the start of the project to select overall system architecture, including primary and secondary side topologies:
- Component count and price
 - EMI/ Filtering requirements
 - Complexity and cost of magnetic components
 - Power density
 - Peak efficiency vs overall system efficiency for wide input voltage range
 - Special requirements: High voltage, high current and isolation for safety
 - Soft-switching operation (Zero-Voltage and Zero-Current switching)
 - Snubber requirements
 - Suitability for application and operating profile. For example, battery charging requires voltage and current control (CV, CC operation).
 - Requirements for bidirectionality
 - Control complexity and control output requirements
 - Fixed vs Variable frequency operation
 - Multiphase and current sharing for parallel operation
