4.2 Clock

Provides configuration information for PIC32MZ Wx/WFI32E0x devices.

For details regarding the operation of the clock module, refer "OSCILLATOR CONFIGURATION" chapter of "PIC32MZ W1 and WFI32E01 Family" data sheet.

The following figure shows the configuration screen for PIC32MZ Wx/WFI32E0x devices.

Configuring the System Clock Frequency

Description

Supports the following as system clock sources:

  • 40 MHz Primary Crystal Oscillator (POSC)

  • 8 MHz Fast RC Oscillator (FRC)

  • 32.768 kHz Low Power RC Oscillator (LPRC)

  • 32.768 kHz Secondary Crystal Oscillator (SOSC)

  • System PLL (SPLL)

  • USB PLL (USBCLK)

  • BT PLL (BTCLK)

  • EWPLL Ethernet clock (ECLK)

  • EWPLL Wi-Fi clock (WCLK)

Configuring the Peripheral Clock

Six Peripheral Bus Clocks, generated by independent integer dividers of the sys_clk:

  • pb1_clk

  • pb2_clk

  • pb3_clk

  • pb4_clk

  • pb5_clk

  • pb6_clk

Peripheral Bus clock frequency is derived from SYSCLK and can be scaled using this Postscaler as shown in the above image.

Configuring the Reference Clock

Four Reference output clocks (REFO1-REFO4) with the following clock sources.

  • REFI Pin

  • 40 MHz Primary Crystal Oscillator (POSC)

  • 8 MHz Fast RC Oscillator (FRC)

  • 32.768 kHz Low Power RC Oscillator (LPRC)

  • 32.768 kHz Secondary Crystal Oscillator (SOSC)

  • System PLL (SPLL)

  • USB PLL (UPLL)

  • BT PLL (BTCLK)

  • EWPLL Ethernet clock (ECLK)

  • EWPLL Wi-Fi clock (WCLK)

  • System Clock

  • Peripheral Clock

    1. Select reference clock option from REFCLK1-REFCLK4.

    2. Turn on selected REFCLK as shown in the above screenshot.

    3. Select your reference clock source option from drop down list.

    4. Use Auto-calculate button to generate required perpheral frequency.
