2.1 Static Memory Controller (SMC) Overview
The SMC generates signals that control access to the external NAND Flash memory devices. It features one Chip Select (CS) dedicated to the NAND Flash address space and supports 8-bit NAND Flash (SLC). Separate read and write control signals allow for direct memory and peripheral interfacing. Read and write signal waveforms can be fully parameterized.
Depending on product integration and memory mapping, at least one EBI Chip Select supports external NAND Flash devices.
Static Memory Controller embedded characteristics relevant for NAND Flash devices are:
- 1 Chip Select available for NAND Flash address space
- 8-bit NAND Flash data bus
- Programmable setup, pulse, and hold time for read/write signals
- 24-bit programmable multibit error-correcting code (PMECC) based on BCH codes
