MPLAB X IDE is an Integrated Development Environment, and in conjunction with the XC8 compiler it can be used as a debugging and development of an application project for Microchip’s 8-bit family of devices. MPLAB X IDE comes with a plethora of plug-ins to help with the process. For instance, the MPLAB Data Visualizer is a free debugging tool that graphically displays run-time variables in an embedded application, and it comes in both a plug-in and stand-alone version.
