1.9 s9: Event Generator signal drifts relative to synchronized wall clock when used in periodic mode
Description
If the local wall clock is controlled by a clock servo algorithm, events generated by the event generator (EG) in periodic mode will drift relative to the synchronized wall clock. The first pulse of the EG will be synchronous to the wall clock, but the EG will not track updates to the wall clock, so events will drift relative to the synchronized clock.
End User Implications
The pulses generated by the Event Generator in periodic mode are synchronized to a local reference clock, meaning this clock and an externally synchronized wall clock will drift apart.
Work Around
If multiple events are required, it is possible to trigger each event individually. Events generated in single mode are synchronous to the wall clock.
