1.1 s1: Determining Product ID and Hardware Revision

Description

The standard PHY Identification register (OA_PHYID) specified by the OPEN Alliance is intended to uniquely identify the Manufacturer’s Product Model Number and Hardware Revision number. In the LAN8650/1 this register reflects the PHY Clause 22 PHY_ID0 and PHY_ID1 registers. Therefore, the standard OA_PHYID PHY Identification register reveals the identification and revision of the integrated PHY block rather than the full LAN8650/1 MAC-PHY product.

End User Implications

The OA_PHYID register cannot be used to identify the LAN8650/1 product and hardware revision.

Work Around

The unique LAN8650/1 product ID and hardware revision is available by reading the Device ID (DEVID) register at address 0x0094 in MMS 10.
