3.3 Evaluation Software Application

The evaluation software application is available for the ATSAMC21-XPRO boards. This software application uses the USB COM port with a menu (shown in the following figure) to control the application. This requires a typical PC terminal application, which can be connected to the USB COM port using the following settings:

  • Baud rate: 115200, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, no flow control

The application performs an initial FLL RX trimming to select the trimming value for the FLL RX and TX, and displays the operating parameter for the device. By entering the numeric or alphabetic character, an operating mode or parameter setting can be selected:
  • 0: PR Mode Prover mode with 4-byte SSID and 4-byte RNR data

  • 1: VR Mode Verifier mode with 4-byte SSID and 4-byte RNR data

  • 2: PRo Mode Prover offset mode with 4-byte SSID and 4-byte RNR data

  • 3: VRo Mode Verifier offset mode with 4-byte SSID and 4-byte RNR data

  • 4: PRs Mode Prover secure mode with 4-byte SSID and 4-byte RNR data

  • 5: VRs Mode Verifier secure mode with 4-byte SSID and 4-byte RNR data

  • 6: PRso Mode Prover offset secure mode with 4-byte SSID and 4-byte RNR data

  • 7: VRso Mode Verifier offset secure mode with 4-byte SSID and 4-byte RNR data

  • A: RX Mode RX mode with 8-byte data

  • B: TX Mode TX mode with 8-byte data

  • C: RXo Mode RX offset mode with 8-byte data

  • D: TXo Mode TX offset mode with 8-byte data

  • E: Debug Debugging

  • F: PA_Test TX power test Mode (1 ms RMS mode)

  • G: PA-Testo TX power test Offset Mode (1 ms RMS mode)

  • H: Short_Preamble Transmit Telegram with Short_Preamble

  • J: Skip_SSID Transmit Telegram without SSID

  • K: Symbol_Map Display symbol map

  • M: TX_RX Freq. change RF channel between 6.52, 7.04, 7.56 and 7.987 GHz

  • N: TX PA. change TX level between 0 and 15

  • P: XTAL trim change crystal trimming

  • R: Reset Reset

This application is typically used with demo kit variant A on both nodes, to select one node as a Prover and the other as a Verifier. This requires that this application be run on both nodes, each with a PC terminal application. The user manual is required for the settings and parameter selection.
