36.3 OPA Operation with ADC

The OPA module does not provides internal connections directly to the ADC; however, the ADC can read the OPA output by reading the dedicated OPAxOUT pin (see table below). In this mode of operation, the output of the OPA (OPAxOUT) is connected to a dedicated I/O pin. When the ADPCH register selects the dedicated pin as an input, an ADC conversion will be performed on the OPA output. When using this mode of operation, the OPAxOUT pin must be configured as an output via the associated TRIS register bit.

Tip: When using the OPA module with the ADC in this mode of operation, the OPAxOUT pin cannot be used as a general purpose I/O.
