2.4 Physical Unclonable Functions (PUF)
Physical Unclonable Functions (PUF) use the behavior of standard embedded static RAM (SRAM) to distinguish one chip from another.
The Secure Boot mode in the SAM9X7 Series ROM code uses this hardware feature to wrap keying material with a unique PUF key. This makes keying materials virtually impossible to duplicate, clone or predict, providing an enhanced level of security.
