2.1.1 Use Case

The overall use case of the SAM C21 Diagnostic Library is to monitor and diagnose safety-related device failures due to random single-point device faults and support the application or system to achieve a safe state.

From the perspective of the Integrator, the library is called on to minimize the likelihood of unacceptable risks due to hazards caused by malfunctioning device behavior. In doing so, the library is built to meet functional safety requirements. Whenever possible, the library is designed to take advantage of the device safety features transparent to the application.

The full capability of the library is called on at three distinct use cases: POST (before application initialization), On Demand (application interruption) and In Use (concurrent).
