1.1.1 Scope
The PIC32CXMTx-DB Demonstration Kits are based on Microchip PIC32CXMTx series SoC, allowing 3000:1 dynamic range and 0.2s accuracy class using standard external components. This is a solution for smart energy applications built around two high performance 32-bit Arm Cortex-M4F processors, including an internal (PIC32CXMTSH-DB) or external (PIC32CXMTC-DB) energy metering analog front end. The processors operate at a maximum speed of 200 MHz (Core 0) and 240 MHz (Core 1). The dual Arm Cortex-M4F architecture allows the integration of application layer, communications layers and security functions in a single device. The boards are designed to interface with Current Transformers, Rogowski Coils and Shunt Resistors current sensors. It can also interface with communications devices, such as PLC and/or RF modules from Microchip.
This section introduces the PIC32CXMTx-DB and describes how to work with the demonstration kits as well as the main functionalities of the demo meter application software running in the boards. Users may choose PIC32CXMTSH-DB for single-phase and dual-phase (2 voltages and 2 currents) meter evaluation or choose PIC32CXMTC-DB for poly-phase meter evaluation.
