2.3 Microchip PCAP Utility Tool Installation

The user must install the Microchip PCAP Utility Tool to set up a capture session using Wireshark. To download the Microchip PCAP Utility Tool, go to gallery.microchip.com/packages?q=wireless.

The following are the steps to install the Microchip PCAP Utility Tool:
  1. Double click the Microchip PCAP Utility-x.x.x Setup.exe to start the installation procedure.
  2. Follow the instructions in Release Notes.txt (available inside the package folder Microchip_PCAP_Utility) to complete the setup procedure. For more details, refer to the ZigBit USB Stick User Guide (42194).

  3. Flash the sniffer firmware on the respective ZigBit hardware platforms. For more details, refer to 4 Flashing the Firmware into ZigBit USB Stick. The following are the available images in the package:

    • AWSI_at32uc3a3256s_rz600_at86rf212.hex
    • AWSI_at32uc3a3256s_rz600_at86rf231.hex
    • AWSI_atxmega256a3u_rf212b_zigbit_usb.hex
