35.1 Overview
Refer to the Configuration Summary for the number of SERCOM peripherals for each device by pin count. Each SERCOM provides hardware support for one of the I2C, SPI, LIN, or USART protocols. It can operate as an I2C Host, I2C Client, SPI Host, SPI Client, LIN Host, LIN Client, or as a USART. When a SERCOM peripheral is configured and enabled, the resources of that SERCOM peripheral are dedicated to the selected protocol and operational mode. It can use the internal generic clock or an external clock which allows it to operate in all Sleep modes.
