38.3.8 Turning ON the ADC

Turning ON the ADC module involves the following procedure.

When the ADC module enable bit, ON (ADCCON1[15]), is set to ‘1’, the module is in Active mode and is fully powered and functional. When the ON bit is ‘0’, the ADC module is disabled. Once disabled, the digital and analog portions of the ADC are turned off for maximum current savings. In addition to setting the ON bit, the analog and digital circuits of ADC must be turned ON. Note: Writing to the ADC control bits that control the ADC clock, input assignments, scanning, voltage reference selection, S&H circuit operating modes and interrupt configuration is not recommended while the ADC module is enabled.
