2.2 EEPROM Configurator Tool (EEPROM / SPI Flash Unmanaged Configuration)

The LAN9645x EEPROM GUI Configurator Tool is used to generate configuration images for unmanaged systems using an external EEPROM / SPI Flash. These configuration files are loaded at boot, enabling predefined switch operation without a host processor.

The tool supports creation and editing of EEPROM configuration images, including port configuration, VLANs, QoS, PHY initialization, and interface selection. It also provides example templates to accelerate development.

Usage Model:

  • Configuration is created using the GUI tool
  • A binary image is generated and programmed into EEPROM or SPI Flash
  • On power-up, the device applies this configuration automatically

Important:

  • The LAN9645x EEPROM GUI Configurator Tool supports static configuration only
  • Advanced features (TSN, redundancy, dynamic control) require a managed system with a host processor and Linux® DSA

For detailed usage instructions, supported features, and configuration guidelines, refer to the LAN9645x EEPROM GUI Configurator Tool User Guide and Release Notes. The tool is available through the Microchip Secure Document Extranet (SDE).
