4.3 Junction Temperature Response Time

In many systems, the activity profile is not constant over time, and the processor alternates between high and low activity periods. Depending on the speed at which the load profile is modulated, the junction temperature response to this load profile change may differ. In particular, when a burst of activity has a very short duration compared to the system thermal time constant, TJ does not reach its steady state value.

In this section, the SAMA7G54 junction temperature response to a CPU load step is studied through measurements carried out on SAMA7G54-EK.
