5.7 Output Filter
The Current Doubler Rectifier stage used in this reference design reduces peak current requirement in the two output inductors and main power transformer secondary side winding. The Current Doubler Rectifier stage also has the benefit of output current ripple cancellation reducing output capacitor size for a given voltage ripple target.
The output capacitor value is determined by output voltage ripple target and hold-up time. Total output capacitance is approximately 4.7 mF
The Current Doubler Rectification stage uses two custom uncoupled inductors. Each one with a nominal value of 3.2 uH. Flat wire is used to support high current and better winding window utilization.
