2.1 Drivers Required on the USB Host

To use the MCP2222, no custom drivers are required. It works with standard drivers that are installed automatically by the host operating system during device enumeration.

  • On Linux® and macOS® systems, the MCP2222 USB CDC-ACM class interface registers with the serial subsystem, and the USB vendor-class interface is registered with USB subsystem and can be accessed from user space through the libUSB library.
  • On Windows® systems, the MCP2222 USB CDC-ACM class is assigned to the standard Windows serial driver, and USB vendor-class interface is bound to the WinUSB driver.
