6 Bootload Communication Protocol: 8-bit

6.1 Read Version

Enables the bootloader to read the version information from the configuration bits of the device.

Summary

In order for the bootloader to properly configure its coding library some information about the bootloader itself as well as some information about the specific device to be programmed is needed. This command is used to retrieve that information as well as the Max Packet Size for data transfer, the device ID the configuration words and more specific information about the device memory interface.
