Key formation, scaling, and operational best practices:
- Plan before deploying: Survey the physical environment, identify obstacles and interference sources, and design router placement to minimize hop counts and ensure redundant paths.
- Assess network capacity: Ensure adequate routing node density before expanding. Each routing node supports a limited number of connected devices, exceeding this capacity creates bottlenecks.
- Design for resilience: Individual nodes will fail. Ensure redundant paths exist at the design stage, monitor for disappearing nodes, and leverage mesh healing for automatic topology recovery.
- Optimize Tx power: Assess the RF environment, set moderate initial power levels, evaluate link quality, adjust selectively to achieve uniform coverage with minimal interference.
- Deploy in stages: Power nodes online by sector in groups. This spreads the joining load and allows stabilization between phases, preventing network congestion during formation.
