2.1 Performance Considerations
Large mesh networks present key performance considerations that system designers must manage.
Latency
Latency is influenced by transmission time, processing delay at each intermediate node, channel access contention, and hop count. Strategic sector-based router placement minimizes average hop counts while preserving redundancy.
Throughput
Available bandwidth is affected by channel capacity, hop count, network load, and protocol overhead. High-throughput applications benefit from minimizing hop counts and ensuring adequate routing node density.
Reliability
Packet delivery reliability depends on link quality, RF interference levels, network congestion, and path length. Packet Error Rate (PER) testing across the large node infrastructure, for both single-hop and multi-hop configurations, demonstrates low packet error rates, confirming reliable delivery across the mesh.
