In the DMA controller’s descriptor write-back feature, after a transfer, the payload pointer is always incremented or decremented by 4 bytes, regardless of the configured transfer element size (SIZEn, e.g., byte, half-word, or word) in the descriptor.

Workaround

Configure the descriptor table to use SIZEn = 2 (32-bit transfer size) for all transfers.
