4.1 Measurement Area

The measurement area is used to start and stop a distance measurement with or without averaging.

To run a distance measurement with averaging, check “on” for Average and select an average value from 2-20. When a measurement is running, no parameter settings can be read or written. The user cannot change the chosen diagram type when a measurement is running. For more details, refer to Data and Result Area.

Note: A measurement can only be started in the following situations:
  • The UWB Demo Board is connected.
  • This board is identified as Verifier.
Figure 4-3. Running Distance Measurement
To end a running distance measurement, click Stop, then wait until the measurement finishes. The “Wait … Aborting” message displays until the measurement finishes.

Note: Any measurement start clears the existing data of a previously finished distance measurement and the associated diagram chart. It is recommended to not exit the application as long as a distance measurement is running. The following figure shows the warning message that pops up in this case.

Click Cancel, then end the measurement correctly as described above. If the user does not follow this procedure, the next measurement will lead to unexpected behavior. For a proper restart, press RESET on the Verifier SAM C21 Xplained Pro Board before reopening the UWB Evaluation GUI.
