1.2.2 Download and Install the USB Serial Driver

The PIC32CXMTx-DBs include an isolated UART-to-USB bridge by means of micro USB Type-B connector (J12 in PIC32CXMTSH-DB board, J16 in PIC32CXMTC-DB board). The bridge is based on an MCP2200 device, which converts the UART signals to USB protocol to ease PC connectivity (USB 2.0, full speed).

Refer to MCP2200 to download the MCP2200 drivers, and optionally the “MCP2200 Configuration Utility”. The MCP2200 is preconfigured, so running the configuration utility is not needed. But if the configuration was changed, communication could not work. In that case, run the MCP2200 Configuration Utility and check that Enable Tx/Rx LEDs, Invert UART Polarity (UPOL), and Blink LED features are selected.
