3.2.5 WiFi and Ethernet - Project Properties
When MPLAB ICE 4 is connected in WiFi or Ethernet mode () and the Project Properties window is opened, ICE 4 will show as a Connected Hardware Tool.
However, when MPLAB ICE 4 performs its first operation (like read memory), it will take possession of its sockets, and then if the Project Properties window is opened, the window will not be able to access these sockets and so will show “No Tool.”
MPLAB ICE 4 takes ownership of its sockets because, by default, Maintain active connection to hardware tool is checked () to speed up emulator operation; that is, no connect/disconnect for each operation. So to view Project Properties, the emulator must be first disconnected by selecting and waiting to hear a “click” from the emulator unit physically disconnecting. Then the Project Properties window may be opened and will show ICE 4 as a Connected Hardware Tool. To reconnect MPLAB ICE 4, simply perform another emulator operation.
