34.6.1 Overview
The Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is one of the available modes in the Serial Communication Interface (SERCOM).
The SPI uses the SERCOM transmitter and receiver configured as shown in the Block Diagram. SPI communications consists of a Host and at least one Client. Each uses a separate SPI module containing a Shift register, a transmit buffer, and a receive buffer.
The SPI Host uses the SERCOM Baud Rate Generator. The SPI Client can use the SERCOM address match logic.
Note that Labels in capital letters are registers accessible by the CPU, while lowercase labels are internal to the SERCOM and presented to help in explaining how the module functions.
