25.3.4.4 Inter-Byte Delay
During multi-byte transfers, the output data is transmitted in a continuous stream. In some applications, the data may be sent too quickly for the receiver, and there might not be enough time for the data to be processed before the next start bit arrives. The inter-byte delay mitigates this by inserting a fixed number of idle bits between bytes in multi-byte transfers.
The inter-byte delay feature can be enabled by writing to the Inter-Byte Delay (INTDLY) bit field in the Control F (USARTn.CTRLF) register.
In LIN Host mode, the inter-byte delay is also inserted after the SYNC field.
